I'm not talking about academics, an extra year for that is pointless
College is a one time thing, as is the athletics piece of it. You can only be the BMOC and experience that once in your life, and he lost that due to COVID this year. You only get to play in the NCAA tournament or in front of 10k wild fans during the college years.
You get none of that stuff at the professional level unless you're a superstar. It's just a paycheck, constant travel, and frequent moves to different countries at the EU level.
Money isn't the be all end all, younger generations spend money on experience far more than older ones do, so there's a strong chance that these unencumbered college kids view the situation differently.
But once again, nothing to do with the academic value. IMO the value of most degrees isn't worth the paper they're printed on, especially in non-technical fields.
